National Housing and Construction Corporation (NHCC) has handed over 13 acres of land in Namugongo-Sonde to the Insurance Training College (ITC) for the development of a new campus.
The campus is envisioned as a one-stop centre for the insurance industry: a modern, multi-purpose hub featuring training rooms, conference facilities, a cafeteria, sports centre, and recreational amenities.
The Principal of ITC, Saul Sseremba, highlighted that the development reflects the College's ambition to support the growth of the sector within a holistic training approach.
“We are not simply building a campus; we are building a centre where the insurance industry professionals can learn, collaborate, build relationships and network. Our vision is to create a one-stop destination that serves professionals and organisations beyond the traditional classroom,” said Sseremba.
The campus will also provide insurance companies, brokers, regulators, and other stakeholders with a suitable venue for conferences, workshops, retreats, team building and corporate events, while expanding ITC's capacity to deliver its academic and professional training mandate.
Assoc. Prof. Walusimbi Abdul Hafiz, Board Chairperson of ITC, emphasised the strategic importance of the investment, noting that the acquisition of the land provides a strong foundation for the College's long-term development plans.
“We have a clear vision for the development of a modern campus that will significantly expand ITC's footprint and provide the insurance industry with a purpose-built space for education, professional development, and engagement. This is an investment that will continue to deliver value to the sector for years to come,” said Dr. Walusimbi.
