Description
1. Course Description
The Certificate of Proficiency (Self-Study Programme), abbreviated as COP(SSP), is a flexible, self-directed learning programme designed to provide students with the opportunity to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies independently, without the need to attend scheduled physical or online classroom sessions.
The programme is delivered through the College's online e-Learning Management System (LMS), which provides students with access to structured learning materials, including study notes, reference materials, recorded video lectures, PowerPoint presentations and other supplementary educational resources.
The programme allows students to determine their own learning pace, manage their study schedules and complete learning activities within the stipulated programme duration. Students are expected to independently review the materials provided, complete chapter-based assessments and demonstrate an understanding of the course content before progressing to subsequent chapters.
Each chapter contains an assessment or quiz that students must successfully complete before the system unlocks the next chapter. Upon completing all chapters and passing the associated assessments, students become eligible to undertake the final examination in accordance with the College's examination policies.
Where necessary, lecturers or trainers may schedule live online sessions through the LMS to provide additional academic guidance, clarification and support. These sessions are accessible directly through the student and lecturer dashboards.
The programme is particularly suitable for working professionals, individuals with busy schedules and learners who prefer independent study or cannot regularly attend conventional classroom sessions.
2. Course Objectives
The overall objective of the Certificate of Proficiency (Self-Study Programme) is to provide a flexible and accessible learning environment that enables students to acquire the required knowledge and competencies through independent study, supported by digital learning resources and structured assessments.
Specific Objectives
By the end of the programme, students should be able to:
