ADMISSIONS' TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Fees collection timelines & Cancellation
Certified Programs: These are programs that run
for more than 2 Weeks (Diploma in Insurance, Certificate in Insurance and
Certificate of proficiency). Fees for the afore mentioned programs are due at
the start of the program, however management shall allow installment payments
as outlined in the timelines below;
(i) Payment 1: Registration fee + Membership fee. (Paid on
submission of application form)
(ii) Payment 2:
1st Installment, 50% tuition fees . (Paid by the 3rd week from the start
of the programme)
(iii) Payment 3: 2nd
Installment, 25% tuition fees (Paid by the 5th week from the start of the
programme)
(iv) Payment 4: Last
installment, 25% tuition fees (Paid 2 weeks before the start of Examinations)
(v) Late payment of fees shall attract a UGX.
50,000 surcharges.
NB: Cancellation for the Certified Programmes
should only be done within first two weeks of the programme after which the paid-up
fees are forfeited.
Class Attendance
The college is committed to enhancing student
success by providing high quality instruction and support to ensure an improved
graduation rate. The college expects students to attend all classes.
However, the college has a mandatory Class Attendance which requires each
student to attend a minimum of 75% of class sessions in each of their
registered courses or be administratively withdrawn from that course.
While unnecessary absences are discouraged, the
college recognizes that on occasion, students may have legitimate reasons for
being absent.
Absence for any reason, including late
registration, counts towards the maximum of 25% absences allowed.
Examination
Assessment of Students
a. Certain Short-term programs are examinable
and as such assessment of all students for these programs shall follow the
structure and methods as approved by the Examinations & Awards Committee.
b. The final mark of a student shall be
qualified with a grade against the grading system indicated in the approved
curriculum of that program.
c. A student who fails a course unit shall be
given an opportunity to register and re-sit the Examination.
Examination Rules and Procedures
There shall be examination rules and procedures as approved
by the Examinations & Awards committee applicable from time to time.
Examinations for Students with Special Needs
a. At the time of admission to a program of
study, student with a disability must notify the College management of his/her
disability and the special facilities, arrangements, or their needs he/she will
require during examination sitting,
b. The special need shall be assessed and,
subject to the resources and means available to the College, appropriate
remedies or arrangements will be put into place
c. Adjustments to the examination conditions and
arrangements to accommodate students with special needs shall be made whilst
ensuring standards and integrity of the examinations are protected.
Examination Malpractice:
a. All cases of Examination malpractice shall be
reviewed by the Academic Disciplinary Committee in accordance with the approved
guidelines. The Academic Disciplinary Committee shall make disciplinary
recommendations to the Examinations & Awards Committee who shall make the
final decision on the Examination malpractice case and communicate the decision
to the student and his/her sponsor.
b. All incidents in which candidates are
involved in examination malpractice shall be dealt with in accordance with the
examination rule(s) approved by the Committee.
Appeals for Remarking:
a. A candidate who is dissatisfied with their results shall apply
for remarking within 14 days after the results have been released. The
candidate shall be required to pay the applicable prescribed fees for the
remark and submit to the Examinations Office the request for the remark
together with the proof of payment.
b. The results of the remark shall be communicated not later than 45 days from the closing dates of the appeal period for remarking.
c. Considerations for an appeal for a remark
shall be made within the approved guidelines of this policy.
Course Exemption
a. Exemptions shall be awarded to an applicant
who is not required to complete a particular course unit on a program as a
result of having previously demonstrated competence in the subject matter of
that course unit.
b. The course unit must have been awarded by the
College, or any other institution recognized by the relevant
academic/professional accrediting authorities.
c. Exemptions shall be granted within the
approved guidelines of this policy.
Revocation of Award
The Policy Provisions for revocation of award
shall apply if it is brought to the attention of the College that a person who
was conferred with a certificate or diploma or any other professional
qualification by the College was not entitled to the award
The policy shall be implemented in accordance
with the approved guidelines.
